Expect a fruity cup with notes of lemongrass, rhubarb and plum. As soon as water is in contact with coffee, the room is filled with tea like aroma reminiscent of hibiscus - a lovely treat!
Nyeri is located on the slopes of Mount Kenya, known for its fertile soil and high quality coffee production. Smallholder farmers transport their harvest to the wet mill to have their coffee cherries processed.
Ripe cherries were handsorted before going into a disc pulping machine to remove the skin. The coffees are then fermented for a duration of 16 to 24 hours under closed shade and transferred into channels to be washed and graded. They are then left to soak in clean water for about 16 to 18 hours and dried on raised beds for 21 days.
